Camp History & Mission

Since 1966, Green Acres Camp has been a nurturing and joyful community where children, ages 4 through rising Grade 8, grow through exploration, creativity, and connection. Rooted in our 15-acre, nature-rich campus in North Bethesda, Maryland, we believe the outdoors is a powerful space for discovery, play, and personal growth.

Our program is intentionally choice-based, giving campers of all ages the freedom to follow their curiosity and take ownership of their experiences. Through outdoor adventures, creative projects, and collaborative activities, we aim for every camper to:

  • Try at least one new skill or challenge each week,
  • Build confidence and independence through guided risk-taking,
  • Strengthen teamwork and communication by working with peers, and
  • Develop a lifelong appreciation for nature, creativity, and community.

By combining hands-on learning with joyful play, Green Acres Camp helps campers leave each summer with a deeper sense of self, stronger friendships, and memories that inspire curiosity all year long.
