Senior Camp
Senior Camp program is designed and taught to be developmentally appropriate and to take advantage of a camper's maturation and expanding skill set. Our senior campers benefit from a tremendous range of activity choices. They appreciate the opportunity to design their own schedules based on their particular interests. Every two weeks, campers select new programs so they can try many different activities. Senior campers are also divided into color teams for the summer and have weekly competitions culminating in the final all-day Green Acres Camp Cup tournament at the end of camp.

Clay & Glaze
Every class provides a new project which introduces a novel technique. Our shelves fill to capacity with a variety of exciting individual masterpieces; including open-mouthed creatures, taco fish, hand bowls, flowers on lily pads, pinch pot caricatures, and mini name platters. Campers also receive short lessons on the composition of clay, the structure and use of glaze, and the kiln that fires their work.
Dance Jams
Dance class isn’t all about pink tutus and glittery costumes. Dance is one of the best forms of physical and mental exercise. Green Acres campers will have a blast and make great friends all while getting a great cardio workout, increasing coordination and muscle tone. B-boys, hip hop, step, POMS, and jazz dance steps are taught.

Film Stars
Lights! Camera! Action! After discussing various genres, campers will work in small groups to create storyboards for their short film or favorite commercial. The assigned director and camera crew start filming the action. Campers use iPads to film and then edit their films and add special effects. The films are added to the camp blog at the end of the session. Campers will also be playing the role of journalists in their efforts to create the Weekly GAC. The crew travels around camp investigating all the breaking stories, like campers’ Spirit Day wear and the solar cooker fun in science. That’s a wrap!
GAC Cup
Game Wizards
In this activity, campers learn the basics of video game design and get to design their own using a programming software called Scratch and a web-based program called Sploader. Campers discuss the development of games, and what makes a good and memorable video game. 3D printing offers campers the ability to experience their projects from the model stage to actual creation of the model. This creates both excitement and a better understanding of the design process as they gain hands-on experience from conception to creation. The individual features are seen more clearly as the student builds the project layer by layer.
Growing Green
Kitchen Frenzy
Kitchen Chemistry brings cooking, science, and nutrition together in many interesting and yummy ways! Campers study solubility and super-saturation by making rock candy; density by making matzah ball soup; chemical reaction of combustion by preparing caramel (heating sugar, butter, and cream); and the effects of dissolved salts on freezing point by making ice cream. Campers practice skills such as weeding and watering in our gardens, and they read about the various herbs and vegetables used in cooking.
